A Case Study

Take one of our success stories Sail TV.
Sail TV broadcast events globally around the world covering high caliber events like the America's cup to local stories.
Using Juzou they are able to broadcast via the Sail TV website at http://www.sailingchannel.tv the current IPMEDIA route of deliver. And it's got all the features you would expect, Schedules, Multiple Channels, Video on Demand, Advertising Manager, Banner Advertising, and many more.

That was fine for Sail TV but they recognized that there are a huge number of sailing fans around the world that want to watch TV on a screen either with their family or friends in the home in the clubhouse after sailing at the local bar or pub; a television experience not a web experience. Juzou worked with our product range to offer:
  • Internet to Television connection with a Set Top Box
  • Infrastructure to delivery to well known sailing areas such as Cowes and Annapolis
  • Consolidation of Channels to the platform

What does each of these mean and why will this help your business.

Set Top Box – Firstly this means that you are watching television with a remote control on your traditional screen. It may be a large screen in a bar or clubhouse or event location. The quality is first rate because it's optimized to scale and display great pictures. The cost of ownership is far less than a dedicated or shared PC.

Infrastructure – For the home user they still connect via their broadband connection. However in communities that have a large concentration of venues such as clubs and bar that operate in the sailing community such as Cowes and Annapolis, we helped Sail TV install either Wireless TV networks or Telco connected equipment. The benefit of this approach is a dramatic reduction in bandwidth and a huge increase in quality.

Juzou can delivery to a Hub Server or Head End device that is responsible for broadcasting to the local Television boxes. This approach can get us to HD delivery very soon.

Consolidation of Channels – because Sail TV is now becoming the de-facto portal for content other content owners or partnering and setting up sub-channels under the brand, allowing Sail TV to become a TV platform.

In summary Sail TV has changed its business from that of Web-Caster to Broadcaster. It's a dramatic change in position and one that has helped the business move from one off the many web based proposition to a unique TV Channel.
